Ep 3: Tasty Morsels

At dusk the following evening Wild Child Mama Cat crept up the garden path and found two plates full of tasty morsels. Morsels just sitting in a plate. Waiting for them. No hunting required. She couldn’t believe her luck. The ploy worked! Bringing in the child had the desired effect. It brought food! She snuck up gingerly, in case it was a trap, and had a taste. Delicious! So delicious she almost swallowed it all in one gulp – hurrying to eat before anyone took it away – or it perhaps mysteriously disappeared. Burping, she moved back into the bush and, as soon as she was confident that the coast was clear, she called out for him – her voice loud and insistent. He appeared in a flash and gobbled his plate of food with great speed and gusto!

The creatures were peeping at them out of the window, whispering to each other. She eyed them suspiciously. No way would she let them get close. The minute they moved slightly, she ran for the bush, her son at her side.

‘Wow, Mom,’ he said, as they hid under a bush, their stomachs very happily full for the first time in ages, ‘that was the best food ever. Can we get more tomorrow?’

‘I hope so. We’ll just have to wait and see.’
